Ikebana Class

Members of the Luray Garden Club participated in Ikebana floral design classes taught by Linda Lewis Taylor, master judge.

We gathered each Wednesday afternoon for 6 weeks to learn the principals of the Ohara School Japanese Flower arranging.

These designs emphasize line and visual balance while keeping the arrangement elegant with contrasting material. The dominate flower is placed where it gets the most attention, keeping material in scale ,one part with another and in proportion to the container.

Rhythm is very important ,as is maintaining the triangular essence of the line arrangement and integrating material and container.

The following photos are examples of Ikebana parallel designs which were created during Class #5.
